So many emotions flash through us as the news unfolds. Those emotions and our response to them can sort of be pictured like we’re trying to balance upright on a playground seesaw! Shifting our weight, bending our knees, holding out our arms for balance, we concentrate hard, using all our skills to reclaim balance. We’re amazed that it takes so much energy! After a while we get tired under the strain of all the unpredictable movement. It’s only when we remember to bring our feet towards center, towards the fulcrum and crossbeam holding up our plank of wood that balance begins to come easier. Not because we got off the seesaw with all its arbitrary movements, but because we put all our weight towards the center.
